Using Gorgos wisely


I started this game with Tohaa. Then i played several factions and sectorials after. Tohaa was always in need some more units and although the best looking TAG was inside the ranks it was also the worst TAG for playing  in the game line in the meantime.



I turned back to tohaa time to time,because i was loving fluff very much. But the units were so limited when you compare it with other old factions. Anyways, i always feeled myself as a tohaa player and after N3 , i again turned back to my roots.

Gorgos. It is a fantastic mini, that i put on my shelves and had never fielded it. There were few fundamental problems of Gorgos that made us to not field him in contentment.

There has been always this fire issue. Apart from that, W atribute that you cant repair like other tags. Having the engineer or doctor didnt work at all. He was dyeing easily and it was more harder to kill things with a spitfire in hand. After loosing the symbiont, you were loosing ( well, still like that . ) the tag form and and having the new stats, which are almost like a kamael.

Now... everything has changed. Well not that much. But he is now much more playable. After N3 appeared and with new ITS 9 extra rules, it became a solid choice. Arm increased by 1, we lost one of the flammenspears. Weapon became ap are the main things taking the attention.

However it still needs other units to work well and some synergy to use it effectively. This is my topic today.

Arm increase of 1 point is seriously important. Against Armor piercing  weapons, you always divide the arm value by 2. but rounding up. So against ap weapons, he will roll like arm 8 tag.

Ap spitfire is effective indeed. Dmg and range can be less than other tags. But spitfire acts still like hmg in closer ranges. between 8 - 24  inch range bracket, it gives you +3 for your bs value. it is not like hmg which you get -3 mod in close range, you get 0 instead. hmg is not very effective between 8-16 inch, which you get 0 modifier normally but with spitfire, you have a range bonus there.

After ITS 9, also new rule appeared. As i notified an other thread, now AP spitfire of gorgos has dmg 15.

So first parameter on using gorgos. Take him to his best range.
Main idea is using a free makaul impetious movement or a link including a makaul unit to smoke the first movements of Gorgos to protect it from long range snipers. Use the 6-4 movement to march freely, without any fear in smokes to reach better range position with Gorgos. Now you are in your range to kill the things. Gorgos has pulsar and a chaksa servant and he is designed as a closer ranges TAG. Maybe he hasn't got a heavyflame like some tags have but dont forget that he has a chaksa too. He can brutally attack in closer ranges.




second parameter. take a mate always
Gorgos can die with a single fire ammo. Cause of it, take a mate. But taking mate now, gives attacking synergy and more protection to gorgos, ever then before. Symbiont mates, after N3 now eliminates all succesful attacking rolls at one time. So, when the right time comes, you can risk a move + move roll to eliminate koalas, a hacking roll, 2 burst sniper attack from a link and several other things at one time.

Maybe you can use a pulzar and your chaksa to kill an entire link, while smiling to your opponent choosing the right aro for you.

Use your mate wisely at the right time. Make it worths.

third parameter. take a bomb always :)
Gorgos can use revitalis to increase his wounds by one if he succeeds. This is cool. But don't forget that bomb provides many possible attacking options for gorgos.

You can gain some advantage with nimbus sphere, since you have a pulsar and a chaksa.

Use a mirror ball, and forget about the atalanta waiting to kill you there. Kill other things and leave atalanta for dinner.

Use end game, if your mate is already gone and you need to face that chasseur behind the total cover.

Use hell zone or pandemonium to kill links or other powerful units that is hard to kill in normal ways.

Having the bomb in hand gives an extra edge for Gorgos. Use it to enjoy gorgos more.

forth parameter. Take a nullfier always
Having the nullifier greatly increases the survivability of the gorgos. With a clipso with nullifiers or kaauri maybe better with a sukeul as you prefer put around some nullifiers. after finishing your moves with Gorgos, finish your movement in a place where there is a nullifier around and in cover.



Listen to me carefuly. If you manage to have the 3 parameters above and this final paramater here succesfully, now you have the best tag in the game. Suprising comment, isn't it ?

Why ?

Now you have a tag, which can not be hacked in any ways. It is completely safe, where he stands against hacking. Now you have a tag, which can not be targeted. So it is safe from smart missile attacks. Flash pulses dont work on it. That so much feared muttawiah can do nothing but idle now. Against weapons you have arm value 10 on total. You dont care about sepsitor. With a bomb and the chaksa, you are more safe against many close range attacks.

There is no tag in the game, with has this much defensive bonuses, after you bring all the right tools to complete his power.

fifth paramter. Bring the guys to synergy with Gorgos
I will advice to take some other troops that i believe, we can get their help.

Kaauri for the reason to bring nullifiers. it is cheap and bring order for gorgos. Chaksa baggages. Because they make the rats in camo to appear. Makauls to smoke your way. A krakot to defend Gorgos. clipso with a nullifier. Keltars for bombs and mates for sure. An engineer is fruitful option . Kamael white hacker is a must.

But one troop has secretly got better synergy.

Mr. LT with symbiobugs , taqeul. Why ? What is the duty that can he provide for gorgos ?

First of all, he brings the symbiobugs. If you move him close to Gorgos, you can leave those symbiobugs to spots,that give an other strong defence to the Gorgos. They can attack and kill the ones that get closer. Also dont forget that smbionbugs give targeted state to units,that you will face. so even if they cant kill an opponent, they will put your opponent in a targeted state. so this will give your gorgos and his chaksa an other edge to defend themselves.

Secondly, taquel is a lt. So since there is also a chain of command keltar, somewhere in your deployment zone, you can use this extra order.

Third, advanced command option lets you to use an extra command token to make other minion units like chaksa,makaul,krakot and others to move in coordinated ordes once more. With chaksa baggages you can fill your bugs any time.

Forth, you always need an other attack piece, since there will be times gorgos is far from the enemies. bs13 taquel can attack with spitfire and can kill things in other flank and still can get the help of symbiobugs for defensively.

sixth parameter. dont forget that your pilot has specialist option and a killer still. (symbiont armor)

Gorgos pilot has ability to kill things. bs12 in agood range means attacking your opponent with 4 burst bs 15 value.  so even when you finally loose your gorgos, you have a fighter in your ranks. There is a rule that is oversight most of the time.

Even if you are immobilised, you can leave your symbiont armor and use the pilot. Imagine that kaplan link made your gorgos immobilised. keep calm and when the time is right, leave the symbiont armor, kill those bitches and open that box, which is waiting for your wip roll only.

After you loose a symbiont, there is no way to turn that state again. So use this ability in the right time.

For this beautiful time, when the pilot cracks her shell and leaves the tag chasis, there is a beautiful convert-diorama ( i dont know how to call it. ) Look at this beauty.


Anyways i like my pilot more with spitfire, and i am planning to make the gorgos pilot model as my hacker alternative.

I give gorgos 75 points out of 100 available points.

Take the gorgos. Enjoy killing and playing with him. Clean the shelf that he is on. I can feel the dust. Because i am tohaa.
