Hi. Here i am with my first thread with you.
I like to make an analysis on triads including weapons effective on close range fights. Here are the fatal shotguns.
the idea here is that fireteams of tohaa can march anywhere with makauls. Makauls with eclipse grenades can take shotgun wielding units to move forward with ease ,where the real action takes place.
triads have extra burst. with extra burst , total burst value is B(3)
and moreover in close range you get +6 modifier which in tohaa you miss alot since you dont have 5manlink option. even best killers like sukeul and ectros , our bs value is simply 13.
The most important thing is to give your shotgun heroes a symbiont bomb! This small detail gives you crucial importance when attacking. Showup , while touching to cover and ask your opponent. Do you have an ARO ? If the aro is a dodge, then attack with the symbiont bomb. if the aro is a reset, then attack with shotgun. isnt it nasty ?

Gaoreel shotgun
I like this one alot. Boardingshotgun and msv level 2 in at least 2 wound troop package for 26 points only.
bs 12 + 6 in close range gives you an attack option which is hard to resist against. bs 18 with B(3) . since you have msv level 2, you dont care about any other modifier. ( We exclude new Kriza Boracs )
Even to a target in cover, you attack with bs 15- 3 burst. there is a good chance that you will win this face to face roll.

Ectros vulkan shotgun
What a nasty unit. for 38 points, you have many wounds trooper with a symbiont on it. you can take a bomb and a mate to attack with deadly vulkan shotgun variant.
bs 13 is making the weapon more deadlier. bs 13 + 6 , bs 19 (burst3) with fire ammo!
take a mate always and now imagine. you show up from the cover and ask your opponent if he has an aro. even if you take all the hits, you have a mate to cover these hits and you can attack with a relieved heart with bs19-3bursts or simply make a move-move. many wounds and a mate brings options.
vulkan shotgun has dmg of 14 and with fire you can kill many things if you are not unlucky.

Linkable in n3. nothing very special here but in a link without shotguns, can be still cool. bs11 +6 gives bs17 attack with a template weapon with burst 3.

Sukeul light shotgun
I am not joking, this variant is very cool too. our only unit with mimetism in triads, sukeuls give opponents a -3 modifier. but they are attacking with bs 13 +6 modifier still. bs 19 with 3 burst is a killer like ectros.
same things that i notified before is valid for this option too.

and there are others out there!
tohaa maybe have the most options for shotguns army but these were the only units that can be used in the triads.
there are also guarding kaauris, kotails,rasails,makaul,krakot,kerail,clipso and igao which have shotgun options.
Especially 23 points clipso shotgun is a manace attacking pawn with a nullifier. shotgun ccw monster igao is interesting with 25 points cost only. Shotgun on infiltrators are strong.
Kerails with mutan and light shotgun can bring smokes. so he can use his own smokes to move forward.
there are shotguns and also there is our hero. Makaul. You will most probably forget about everything i wrote here and simply attack with heavy flame. Well, i cant blame you.
